"Disgraceful neglect of the disabled and..."

About: Lincoln County Hospital

What could be improved

The nursing care. My severely MS riddled 82 year old mother arrived on a short stay ward at lunch time and because she could not feed herself or wash herself and could not drink without being supported she had nothing to eat or drink until she was taken back to her care home at 11pm the following evening. A patient tried to help her but was told to keep away as it was not allowed because of X infection. She asked to be propped up but was told in not a very nice way that they couldn't.

She asked for a wash and a bowl was brought but as soon as she said someone had to wash her the bowl of water was removed. One nurse did make her a cup of tea but of course it remained where she put it as my mother was unable to move. She asked for assistance but received a few sharp words from one trained nurse.

I am appalled that after all the press coverage about lack of nursing care, that this should happen. My mother is in no way mentally impaired but is physically incapable of doing things for herself.

She has to go back in for an operation and before that scans and the family are truly concerned about the treatment she may receive.

Unfortunately I was abroad when she was admitted but have now returned to accompany her for her scans.

What happened to 'Care and Respect ' All this experience has done is make her very upset and frightened.
