Had an appointment for a colonoscopy and prior to this a member of staff telephoned me to ask if I had received the medication and written instructions for taking it. I was able to say that I had and she went on to ask if I had any concerns about the procedure and she was able to deal with each one to my complete satisfaction. We discussed pain relief and I decided to just have Entenox ( gas and air) as there are less complications associated with this. On the day, I took the enema medication as directed and it worked! My appointment was for 5 /5.30pm and I was called through in a timely manner and the procedure was discussed fully and my details ( name, dob & address) were checked. I was then asked to undress and then wait for the call to have the colonoscopy. This was carried out by a nurse practioner who was very calming and explained everything again to me and said that at any time she would stop if I wanted her to. I used the Entenox as directed and there was some discomfort but it was not as bad as I feared. Afterwards I was taken to the recovery room where I was given a drink and a biscuit - very welcome after 24 hours of fasting! I was given a full report with photographs and advised that the results of the biopsies would be with me in 10days. I am very grateful to all concerned for seeing me so quickly.
"Thank you"
