"100/100 - perfect!"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

What I liked

I have had two babies at Medway Hospital, 2 years apart and both times I can not rate the hospital and maternity staff high enough. Both of my experiences at Medway have been extremely memorable due to the high quality care both me and my babies received. All through both labours I felt in control, I felt at ease with my midwife and felt the freedom to do whatever I liked to make the experience less painful - whilst given advise but in the non patronising and interferring way, that can sometimes believed to be given. Aftercare was extremely positive too. All the girls on the wards (infact on both occasions) became friends (I even keep in contact with a few to this date!). The midwifes when able (in the evenings) came and sat on our wards with a cuppa and chatted, very informally and had a giggle. You were not made to feel silly about any questions you may have, being a 1st time mum at the time I was not made to feel stupid and because of this the whole experience was not daunting in the slightest. I was made to feel at home, at ease and knew what was happening all the time. Even when my second baby was born rather quickly, cord around his neck and I had a lot of work done - we were kept in for a few days but this didn't bother me as I knew the care was high quality after my first visit. I honestly, could not recommend the hospital and that maternity team enough. A* through and through!!

What could be improved

Only slight slight thing would be getting discharged quicker. Nothing to do with the midwife team, doctors are sooo busy (again not their fault) but being a mum, kept in hospital with baby all you really want to do at the end of your expeierence is be with your family and taking that time of waiting for discharge would help a great deal.

Anything else?

Keep up the good work ladies and gents., and thank you again! x
