"Liothyronine t3 prescription for thyroid patients"

About: South Devon Healthcare NHS Trust HQ

(as the patient),

In November 2016   I was diagnosed with Me/cfs,   by a gp with specialist interest, who advised that I trial liothyronine t3 for a period, as the gp reasoned that my fatigue might be linked to my hypothyroid condition, which I have had for 27 years and even though if had taken all appropriate action, t4 or levothyroxine, was leaving me in a state of chronic exhaustion for those 27 years I was on that prescription.   My GP would not prescribe t3 and my endo in Torbay hospital would not entertain a visit re t3. I firmly believe that liothyronine t3 is on the list for stop prescribing because of cost......only losers are thyroid patients who cannot convert t4 to t3. And need t3 to live and not suffer from continuous exhaustion.  I know I am one of those I have dragged myself bringing up my children .......they have suffered from having a very poorly often incapable mother........now my 12   year old daughter has mME/cfs..   Genetics play important part in converting t4 to t3..     NHS could so so so easily renegotiate cost of t3.........total refusal......Why are NHS so stubborn on t3.......ironically I was advised to go to health unlocked part of thyroid uk for advise... I think healthunlocked want t3 to be represcribed because for non converters like me only t3   or combination of t4/t3 works for patients to live a normal energy wise life. Thank you for listening.   this is a simple problem....why why why are they complicating this so needed prescription.   Thank you. Please look into t3.
