What I liked
I found everybody from the Breast Screening Unit, Macmillian Nurses, Consultant and his secretary, all nursing staff, theatre staff met the national Dignity Challenge with regards to Respect and Dignity.
What could be improved
Nothing I can think of.
Anything else?
During a routine Mammogram on 28 th April 2010, I was recalled, during this visit I had a biopsy taken and the results came back as I had DCIS Ductal Carcinoma in Situ.
to my right breast. I met a wonderful surgeon and his team. He advised me to have a
mastectomy at which point my whole world crumbled. I could not take it all in, and my consultant said he would see me soon and within 4 days we decided to have a reconstruction called Latissimus Dorsi Flap which was planned for 30th June.It was amazing, and beyond my belief this consultant had made me feel whole again though his surgical skills. His whole team from the Macmillan Nurses to the ward staff were fantastic and respectful and obliging all the time during my stay at Leighton. I am so grateful to of had this operation and to all who were involved. I am so proud of my breast it's wonderful I can wear a swimsuit and how good do I feel.
This man shows empathy, respect is most courtous I respect him for his high standards.
I have no hesitation in recommending him and Leighton Hospital.
