"Focussed care for a seemingly small problem"

About: York Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

It may be hard to believe that a nose bleed can cause so much inconvenience and embarrassment, but when its on an East Coast Mainline train heading south its not possible to hide in a corner.

Great support by fellow passengers and a pragmatic suggestion from a British Transport Policeman resulted in being taken from the train at York and into York Teaching Hospital.

The medical and nursing care I received during the next 4 days was superb.

Hopefully after an operation, repeat performances will not occur and I will always be impressed and indebted.

Dear Alan

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience. It is good to know that colleagues from the different services you encountered were able to get you to the care and treatment you needed.

We do hope, as you say, that you will not need such an unscheduled stop over in York should you be passing through on the train again.

Best wishes
