What could be improved
Having read the previous comment I felt compelled to write as we had a very similar experience when we were told at the 12 week scan that our baby had died a week or so earlier - this is obviously an area that SM need to improve on. We were completely shocked and devastated, then were left sitting waiting on our own for a nurse to come and talk to us (never saw a doctor at all) for over 30mins. We were given a leaflet which talked about standard miscarriages so did not really apply to us & sent away having been promised a phone call within a week - this phone call came over a month later with an apology - obviously far too late by then. When the shock started to wear off I realised I had no idea what to expect, when and how it would happen and what I should do - I only thought to ask the nurse one question at the time and the answer she gave me was wrong!
Months later when in the unit again & giving blood I saw a sign about a early pregnancy loss support group - such a shame no-one told us about this at the time as it would have been such a help.
I thought the care given was very poor & completely lacking any compassion - basically I was left to deal with the whole thing alone with no support or information
"let down & given no help or support when..."
