What I liked
professionalism and care of staff, apart from one really.
What could be improved
my father has been in and out of this hosp for a year, not much dignity and respect were afforded him or myself. As a carer I was mostly ignored, so that I had to request something day after day, this on top of worrying about my dad and holding down job. I was impressed though at the care of paramedics and staff at a and e when my dad was rushed into a and e were he passed away. The doctr who informed me was sensitive and kind.
A nurse took me to see my dad who'd just died and filled in a form and said it was for bereavement counselling and I would hear from them in 2 weeks. 15 weeks later I have rang bereavement services in oldham, those I think are linked with ROH, have been given numbers ending up with bereavement admin at ROH who gave me first number I had rang who said i was 'not on their list.' Even after my dad has died this hospital 's incompetency follow s me around. Uncaring. Wonder what happened to that form? Who cares?
I coul contact PALS, but they are rarely there, in a conversation last year to do with my dad it was obvious the person was going to defend the ward to the hilt and not even listen.
What about this - sending a man who cannot walk home without his walking aids - then try to get them from ROH, what a shambles
