Shortly after registering, my wife and I attended a helpful public meeting arranged by the Practice to explain numerous changes they were making. As newcomers, we were impressed that the Practice was being proactive about the changed circumstances they were facing, and thought that the proposals made a lot of sense. The one thing we felt was missing was an initial review of health issues with our new GP, so that on-going conditions could be picked up; this particularly applied to us as we are in our mid-70s, but could of course apply at any age. The point was readily acknowledged by the Practice.
In the last 3 months since the changes were implemented, we have experienced no delays in access to a clinician, the GP telephone consultations have been timely and worked well, and there has been good continuity with my designated GP over my most recent problem (prostate cancer) which has been diagnosed since registering with the Practice. However, there has been no contact over my long-standing heart problem, perhaps because of the lack of an initial review. This has not been troublesome but an echocardiogram which I requested shortly after registering with Blackbrook (something my cardiologist in London was keen to see), has not so far materialised. I'm not sure whether this is an issue to do with continuity or just a matter of waiting time at Musgrove Park.
So far, neither of us have needed to see an Urgent Care Practitioner, so I'm unable to comment on how well this arrangement has worked. Overall, however, we are impressed with the accessability of care, and the efficiency and professionalism of the Practice, particularly when compared with our previous GP surgery in London.
"Pleased to find a proactive and professional..."
