What I liked
Thanks to a less than clued-up ambulance team, ( I will be following this up) I was taken to minor injuries following a motorcycle accident!! I was feeling extremely unwell and did have to make this known to the desk. Almost immediately a seemimgly large trauma team arrived and quickly diagnosed a ruptured spleen and broken rib. I was then rushed through CT scans and then in to emergency surgery. Although I understand from further enquiries, that I should probably have been taken to different hospital with a set up trauma dept, I do consider myself very lucky to have been taken to the Whittington hospital. Post surgery I had wonderful care in both Critical Care (2 days) and Victoria ward (6 days). The nursing staff, physiotherapists, and doctors although clearly very busy, were good humoured, respectful, helpful, patient, sympathetic and always happy to answer my many questions.
What could be improved
My only criticism was that the food in the Critical Care unit was a bit sloppy, but I do understand that this was because most patients there cannot eat any difficult food. When I moved to Victoria ward there was a dramatic improvement. In fact I think I put on weight during my stay!!
