"Credit to DPOW A&E and ENT Dept"

About: Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

Rang the GP out of hours on 17/2 as I accidentally was doing my ears with cotton wool buds and the cotton wool got stuck very deep into my ear canal. The GP out of hours stated they couldn’t see me and told to visit A&E as they don’t have the facilities to ‘remove’ objects which is pathetic! Anyway, went to A&E at 615 ish seen by the receptionist- very kind and pleasant. 40mins/an hour later was seen by a staff nurse to ask about what has happened etc, very polite nurse. An hour after was called by another nurse who took me into the treatment room in the A&E minors, she assessed the situation and tired to remove the cotton wool from my ear but was far too painful. Staff nurse then rang an on-call ENT Doctor to come and assess me - approx 15 mins after the Doctor turned up! Absolutely brilliant care, took me up to Ward B3 to look further into my ear with a special microscope - cotton wool was removed in a couple of minutes! Cannot fault the care I received here - I am a staff member myself at this hospital and I wouldn’t go anywhere else! Thank you for sorting me out in less than 2 hours! :)
