"Waiting 2 hours for procedure"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Medical Oncology

(as the patient),

I attended Hairmyres to get a PICC line inserted. I was finally taken to get this done over 2 hours after the time I was given. The procedure took around 10 minutes! I don't understand why I had to be there so long.   I have been on chemotherapy for over 7 months and have avoided going out for the last 8 weeks to avoid catching anything as my immune system is weak. I don't think it was a good idea for me to be sitting around that long wearing only a hospital gown mixing with others when I don't know if they have coughs or colds. If I catch anything now it could set back the next stage of my treatment.
