I visited the Early Pregnancy Unit following a referal from the out of hours doctors at Darent Valley. I have never been in this situation before and being my first pregnancy was extremely anxious. The staff from the receptionist, nursinf assistants and nurses that came across me was attentive and caring. I had no idea what to expect during that first scan but the member of staff was caring, kind and gentle and took her time to explain everything to me.
Unfortunately it was discovered that I was having an ectopic pregnancy. I would like to thank all the staff at the EPU for their kind words, compassion and high level professionism even during extremely busy times. Thank you to the member of staff who joined in my partner and I game while trying to guess my HCG levels, it really did put me at ease. Throughout the whole process I was regularly updated on the same day of my blood results and given clear information for what the next step would be.
I wanted to say a special thank you to that senior nurse. The member of staff scanned me both times and even took time out of her morning to sit and make sure I was ok after I was admitted into hospital. They made me feel like I wasn’t being a nuisance and going that extra mile really put me at ease.
I will forever be grateful that we have this service available in our area and I hope the next time I see you all will be for a different circumstance.
