"Hospital Comment"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton)

What I liked

My husband & I took our daughter to A & E with pains in her lower leg where we were worried about blood clots and DVT as I have a history of this but a blood test and x-ray was done on the Sat and nothing was found and an injection was given of clexain in her tummy & on Sunday. She was recalled on the Monday for a scan was done but upper leg was checked.

We have been told the policy has been changed on this.

Almost two weeks after she collapsed at home :-(

We would like to find out about after care or follow up care for our Daughter, who was rushed into hospital in A&E 8 weeks ago with a life threating illness.

She was taken into ITU after with a serious episode and was put on a life support machine with on going problems. After that unit over one & half weeks after she was put in HDU where she was making improvements but did have other problems with short term memory loss, infection and fluid etc She was moved to other wards and ended up in Tristrum ward for rehabilitation where she was also having physio for a droped foot and seeing a psychologist for a short time but she wasn't in that ward for long & that stoped because she was moved to the chest ward. Where she had fluid in her chest and under her left Lung which was eventually was drain off.

Most of the staff were very nice & helpful.

What our worry is she has been out of hospital nearly 2 weeks now and has had no one visit her or given or sent any appointments for physio or follow up's for any after care or support after 5 heart attacks a blood clot and other organs affected, something so serious & Tramatic for her.

All we was told by Collridge Ward reception over the telephone is she will get an appointment for 6months time, that's not good enough.

We think that it is absolutely ridiculous seeing she has been through so much and almost died and had alsorts of problems along the way. Can someone in authority give us answers. Regards

What could be improved

More after care and support for our daughter now she is home.

She is at home with short term memory loss and a problem with her foot and toes she does have a walking stick but not happy with stairs, when her husband is at work so stays down stairs.

We,her mum & dad, have just moved to Taunton at the week-end & its a good job as well and if we hadn't been here to support her &, her husband & 7 year old daughter she would be at home on her own like that.

It could and Can be improved now!

She should get a hospital follow up before 6 months as we was told, it should be more like

6 weeks and support from the hospital while she is at home and or as an out patient.

She has breathing problems and can't walk too far just yet.

Anything else?

We hope something can be sorted out now.
