"My pregancy and birth care"

About: St Mary's Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I honestly cant express in words how amazing both st marys care is for pregnant woman and our community midwife Michelle A.have been. Having a very different pregnancy to my first and needing extra care i couldnt have been in better hands. Firstly i want to say a huge thank you to michelle astley who has literally gone above and beyond the call of her midwife duties. She came on her day off to see myself and the baby to check we were ok, she respected all my wishes during my pregnancy and any concerns i had she listened and reassured me, she messaged me just after having the baby as he was poorly to check how he was getting on, making us feel valued and special, something the midwife we had first time with my 1st child didnt do. She certainly needs some recognition for all the hard work and commitment she does.

2ndly i want to thank the following staff at st marys

Alison B, who was so kind, compassionate and caring on the occassions when my babys movements reduced, she re assessed my induction date and kept me calm and always informed of any issues. To go into a monitoring session not knowing if the baby was ok is scary enough but the level of care and again commitment shown reassured me and made me at ease.

The next st marys midwife is Leanne A. I honestly dont know how i would of got through my labour without her, she listened to me respected my wishes and didnt try to talk me out of anything i decided. Being a mum of 4 she understood and knew how much i needed her support and im so grateful and pleased i had her throughout the process and labour even though she didn't finish her night shift on time.

Lastly is the amazing and kind midwife elana (spanish young lady) who my opinion needs a promotion. I have never met such a professional who does what she does. She spent 8hrs caring for me ensuring me and the baby were comfortable, it was the little things, bringing and making me toast instead of waiting for the porters to do it, bringing coffee for my husband, helping me  and spending alot of time in helping me breast feed, she let me stay in the room as long as she could so I could rest and enjoy my newborn and when my daughter arrived to meet the baby she spent time with her and including her in everything that was happening. I honestly wouldnt go to any other hospital for my care whilst pregnant nor would i go to any other community midwife than michelle. From myself and my husband thank you for keeping me and my baby safe and respecting me as a woman.

Thank you for your positive comments posted on the Care Opinion website regarding your care throughout your pregnancy at Saint Mary’s Hospital. It was very kind of you to take the time to write and compliment the staff as it is good to receive positive feedback which reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff.

The Trust has introduced a Behavioural framework within which all members of the maternity and medical teams practice so it was reassuring to read that you felt thoroughly supported, respected and safe throughout. I can assure you that we have passed on your thoughts to Dr Clare Tower, Clinical Director for Obstetrics and Mrs Kathy Murphy Director of Nursing and Midwifery who will ensure that Midwives Michelle Abraham, Alison Bell, Leanne Ayres and Elana Fernadez Garcia are aware of your kind thoughts.
