I was diagnosed with an enlarged Prostate by my GP.
I was referred to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Selly Oak.
I had various PSA tests and these were considered to be high.
Had a flexible cystoscopy, which was fascinating but a little uncomfortable. It was said my Prostate was very large.
I then saw a consultant and informed of the various procedures and outcomes that were likely. We agreed that I would have an MRI scan and a Template biopsy. This was scheduled after my holiday in November.
I had the MRI scan, which I found very disturbing and wanted to stop it . But the staff were excellent and persuaded me to continue.
I then went for a Biopsy as a day case, in the first week of January. At all stages I felt in control and informed.
Whilst in recovery I even had the chance to have some music I liked played by the staff.
Was discharged after a few hours. Had an uncomfortable night at home but then made a speedy recovery without any complications. Running after 5 days!
Had an appointment in the third week of January. I was OK and was quite optimistic.
As we walked in Dr Viney announced that I should "sit down as we have some good news" He also said I had a Prostate that I could go to the pub and brag about
Had a good discussion on what I could do to monitor my Prostate.
He then said he would inform my GP and he would then monitor the situation.
There were about five people in the room with us and it was a bit intimidating.
When we left I then realised I had received excellent news but had not thanked the team for their excellent care, hence I found this system and hope it gets back to them.
