What I liked
Over the last 30 months or so I have had eye surgery carried out for a left macular hole, a right epiretinal membrane and cataracts. I have had great problems with central vision making reading, using a computer and any activity that required close vision very difficult. Since my eye has settled down following the last operation my vision has improved enormously and I can now see to do all I want without any problems. It was not until after the last operation, bringing such huge improvements, did I realise how bad my vision had become. I am just so grateful for what the Consultant has been able to do for me.
During my last operation I was treated so kindly by the staff on Limpsfield Ward. Before the operation the anaesthetist took all my concerns into account and was very reassuring throughout.
My follow up visits to the Eye Clinic to see the Consultants were always very reassuring and the nurses were very cheerful and kind.
I feel so fortuate that my eye surgery has been successful and I cannot thank everybody involved enough.
What could be improved
As most people attending for eye appointments and surgery need someone with them seating in the waiting area can be a problem.
I certainly benefitted from having some sedation before my last operation and think I would have liked to be offered it before the first one.
Anything else?
I am more than confident to recommend East Surrey Hospital Ophthalmology Dept to anyone.
