"My experience of Rugby St Cross Cedar Ward."

About: Hospital Of St Cross / Trauma and orthopaedics

I was admitted to Rugby St Cross for a total hip replacement.

Never having been in hospital before, I had concerns and reservations, particularly after reading some of the reviews on here.

The whole experience from first consultation in outpatients to discharge following the operation has left me with nothing but praise and admiration for everyone involved. I have never before been treated with the dignity, respect and consideration shown to me by everyone involved in my treatment and care whilst in Rugby St Cross. Nothing was ever too much trouble for anyone, from my surgeon explaining the procedure, the anaesthetist administering the anaesthetic, the nurses in recovery, nurses on the ward, the physios, the porters, the caterers, the cleaners all, without exception, put my welfare and comfort above everything else. Even whilst under pressure, which did happen on occasions, staff remained polite and sensitive - difficult to do after a demanding 12 hour shift!

My experience of Rugby St Cross can be summed up in one word - professional. My sincere thanks go to everyone involved in my care, and should I ever need to be admitted to hospital again in the future, I will certainly opt for Rugby St Cross.

Dear Alan,

Thank you very much for posting your review of the Hospital of St Cross. I hope you are recovering well after your hip replacement earlier this month. I was really pleased to read your praise for the whole team, and how they treated you with dignity and respect, and in your words, put your welfare and comfort above everything else.

This is exactly the kind of care we aim to provide to all our patients, and I will pass on your kind comments to the Matrons and Manager at the hospital.

The Trust is grateful for all feedback, positive or negative, as it means we can better understand what is important to our patients. Thank you again for leaving your comments on NHS Choices.
