"Larch/Chestnut ward Nurses"

About: University Hospital Lewisham

My Mother was admitted to the Chestnut ward and then the Larch ward due to a blood clot.

After hearing many horrible things about Lewisham Hospital and their staff,

I was worried about the care she would recieve, but I needn't have worried!

These nurses (day and night shift) were so kind, polite, honest, patient and extremely caring!

I cannot thank them enough for everything they did to make her (and us) feel at ease.

In my opinion they don't get enough credit for the hard work they do! (They literally keep the place running smoothly!)

The only problem we encountered was, we were not informed by the doctors as much as we would have liked.

(It was 4 days before we were told mum was actually admitted for a blood clot!)

Keeping patients updated with what will happen next and why it's happening, would have put us more at ease - but we also understand there are many patients and time is precious to the staff.

I also want to mention the porters, who were always happy, singing and jolly - they kept our spirits up when they were low!

And also the lovely woman in the radiology department who booked my mum in for her CT scan - again, a very kind and patient lady!

Thank you all x

Thank you for your kind feedback. It is very encouraging to get positive comments and they been sent to the management teams for Chestnut and Larch Wards, Porters and Radiology to share with their teams.

The matron for Chestnut will also share with the medical team and acknowledges the treatment plan is not always discussed with the patient in the way we would like to. She will pass this to the medical team so they have insight next time they speak to patients.

Kind Regards
