I cannot fault the nursing and medical staff however the administative processes are not robust.
I was referred on a 2 week wait and did see my consultant within this timeframe. What I didnt realise was that I had been appointed into a colposcopy clinic. Unfortunately after my consultation my notes were with the colposcopy secretary rather than the secretary responsible for organising my admission. This took numerous phonecalls to right and ultimately I did get a phonecall from my consultant to let me know that he would be organising my admission.
After my procedure I hadnt heard any thing for three weeks regarding my need for follow up or not so I contacted my consultant s secretary. Apparantly owing to a 'coding issue' my histology report had not been linked to my notes therefore my consultant hadnt had the opportunity to review and decide whether I needed any followup.
I feel that this situation is unacceptable and although I am never happy to think if I havent heard anything it must be ok,and will persist until I hear my results, there will be others who wont and this situation could potentially put someones life at risk.
