"I hope this hospital is not a true..."

About: Royal Sussex County Hospital

What I liked

Nothing

What could be improved

Everything, especially communication, listening to patients, keeping notes and food.

Anything else?

I have been unfortunate enough to have been admitted four times to this department in 2010. The last two times I was given a new hospital ID number as they had managed to lose my notes between July and November. My original Consultant had no idea I was there and I have found out since they were most surprised that I had an angioplasty when they thought I should only have had an agoigram. Inexpicably my original consultant deciced to change the number of my address so I have not received any correspondence from the hospital. My last stent was fitted on18 Nov 2010 and I am still waiting for my outpatients appointment which I was told would be 6-8 weeks. When I mentioned this to my Cardiac Rehab Nurse they told me the cardiologist would like it to be 6-8 weeks but this is never the case and it is always around 12 weeks. This seems totally rediculous because the 6-8 weeks on the discharge form doesn't mean anything, it might as well say 6-8 days. I have now been waiting nearly 17 weeks, wouldn't it be better to be honest. I found out from a very helpful appointment bookings clerk that I missed an appointment in February because the details were sent to the wrong address and because of this they cancelled an appointment in March without informing me. When I had my Angioplasty in November I was left to bleed for 30 hours before using a Fem-stop. I am still suffering with chest pain but do not want under any circumstances to be re-admitted at RSCH Brighton. I understand this hospital has a particularly bad reputation and I now know why.
