"sunflower court hepworth ward"

i went to visit a family friend on this ward and it is safe to safe that i am utter disgusted with how this ward is run. all of the patients on the ward were left to walk around and do what they want when they want the nurses and any other members of staff locked themselves in a room and paid not attention in to what was happening outside of that room. understandably the patients on this ward have severe cases of mental health problems but the patients were left to their own devices racially abusing one another hitting throwing things at each other and there was not one staff member there to prevent this from happening. the patients were not being given their medication at the correct time, the nurses were not giving the right medication to patients to which the doctors has said to be given to them. they spoke to the patients like the dirt on the bottom of their shoes and asif they were animals. there was no refreshments available for for visitors nor was their anything other than water offered for the patients, you had to have a visit asif you was in a prison and have other patients confronting you in no fit state ruing your visiting time. the nurses on this ward showed no compassion towards us as the visitors or to the patients on the ward the clearly do not care about the patients on this ward and they are most definatley not running the ward in the correct manor and it is safe to say myself as a retired mental health nurse am utterly appalled and i home that a CQC and inspectors one day see how disgusting theses patients are kept, there is not vents to let in any fresh air into the building there is not fans to circulate any air either, when i left the building after being there an hour it felt a luxury to be able to of breathed fresh air it was that cramped and claustrophobic in there.

it is safe to say that i cannot wait for this individual to be able to finally get off this ward and back to her normal self as from my eyes this ward is doing nothing but making her mental state worse. the nurses and doctors did not communicate with us to tell us how she has been doing, what sort of time frame she is looking to be in there for and when we will be able to take her out on day release overall to say the least i am utterly disgusted and i hope that maybe other wards in the place are not run in such a disgusting manor.
