"Dermatology / Ward 406"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Dermatology (Skin Conditions)

(as a service user),

Feels like I've been forgotten about / fallen through the cracks.  Got taken on as a patient January 2013, first apt was May 2014 (patch test), told that laser treatment results are best on darker skinned people (am fair skinned) - so would only resolve about 2% of my condition / problem.  No alternative treatment / resolve in sight to my condition.  Soul destroying.

Contacted Ward 406 last week, lovely lady who answered advised that Dr. Rajpara has moved on, and to contact the Review Team, which I did.  They didn't have me on their system as still needing treatment / review apt despite my last apt being over a year ago and not being discharged.  They have kindly put me on their list, so I'll get an apt through in due course.

Feels I've been let down due to lack of communication (i.e Equipment break down / Dr. Rajpara moved on / etc).

Can't fault the staff in Ward 406 when I've been in for treatment as they've all been professional / friendly.

Was advised in May 2014 would need aprox 6 treatments, but have only had 3 to date, with no end in sight of how my condition will be resolved.  As seems to be no alternative treatment for fair skinned people.

Dear Feel let down lost,

I am sorry to read that you have had unsatisfactory experience with the Dermatology service. There have been a number of changes with staffing and movement of medical colleagues but this does not help you when your appointment has been lost.

I am glad that you feel the team in ward 406 have been helpful and professional. If you feel that you need to speak with the service management I will be happy to provide you with a contact number.

Kind regards

Catriona
