"Poor"

About: St Albans City Hospital

Anything else?

I was seen by a nurse for a very swollen infected hand, I explained i had a thorn/ piece of wood embedded in & my hand was very sore along with my joints in my knuckles, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. She did not take on board what I was saying & basically instructed me to use ice & a sling. The next day I had to have an emergency appointment with my doctor for antibiotics for 3 weeks followed by an emergency operation to remove a foreign body over 2cm long & abscess. My Doctor could not believe I had not been given antibiotics or a tetnus. The surgeon said it was clearly obvious I had something embedded in my hand.

I left St Albans feeling they had dismissed what I was telling them, I am extremely disappointed with the service received.
