"Satisfactory apart from the disturbed..."

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

What I liked

Patient care was what I expected

What could be improved

Although admitted as a day case I had to stay the night. I got very little rest during the night as nurses attended a particular patient and the general comings & goings in the corridor. When I got home I went straight to bed for a sleep. I would not want to be on a ward for a number of nights.

I had a couple of sandwich on being returned to the ward at about 18:00, my first food since 05:30, they were both very dry.

Anything else?

I am concerned I was not checked for MRSA on admission. In the past couple of years I have been admitted as a day case to a couple of Nuffield Hospitals and on both occasions swabs were taken

Thank you for taking the time to post about your experiences at St George’s Hospital and apologies for the delay in responding. We are pleased that you were happy with the patient care but sorry that you were disturbed at night and that the sandwiches you were given were very dry. Unacceptable levels of noise at night was an issue that was highlighted in the results of our National Inpatient Survey 2010 and work is already underway to resolve this issue. Your comments about the sandwiches have been passed on to our Facilities team and your concern about not being swabbed for MRSA passed on to our Infection Control team. Thank you once again for your post.
