About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham

My father was not provided with breakfast when I contacted him at 10:30am I couldn’t get through to the ward via phone till 11:15am and was spoken to firstly by a very rude member of staff.

I visited my father and was present for the evening meal, again the staff walked up the ward and gave out the meals and didn’t provide my father with any food and stood out on the corridor and were discussing what meals the staff were going to have from the trolley!

I was horrified that that the basic need of food could not be provided, I’m extremely concerned about vulnerable patients who cannot speak for them selfs and could be left malnourished.

I didn’t think that following the Francis report that this was still a problem in hospitals.

I had to self discharge my father to ensure he could be cared for properly I have made a formal complaint and still awaiting a reply.

Would be reluctant to have to experience this hospital again when they fail to meet basic needs and staff are unprofessional on this ward eating patient meals and being rude when spoken to.
