"Awful - worst GP surgery I have ever known"

About: Morrab Surgery

If you value your health, or that of friends/relatives, avoid this surgery at all costs.

Telephone rings (and rings, and rings) before eventually cutting off; no mention that you have reached the surgery, or position in call queue

Difficult to get appointment - no answer on phones.

Does offer out of hours appointments, but despite being the first of the day at 7.30am, cleaner said surgery doesn't open until 8.30am, and doctor oblivious to the fact I was sat in the waiting room for almost an hour - with NO other patients!

Staff really could not care less - admin staff in particular, and speak to you as if you are a bother; cancel appointments at last minute via text rather than calling; decide whether an appointment is appropriate - apparently worsening of asthma is not worthy of an emergency appointment as it is not 'chest pain. or a baby with rash'.

Attended surgery 2 days later (on 2 occasions), for the doctor to ask why on earth I'd not been seen, and call 999 for emergency transfer to the local acute hospital - resulting in admission to intensive care; according to the reception team, this doesn't warrant a flu vaccine as the patient was not in an 'at risk' group.

No involvement in care or decisions .

Withdrew reminders following a merge with another local surgery, without letting patients know; resulting in late injections/blood tests/contraception etc.

Change medication from one format to another - I was changed from tablets to capsules, which I find difficult to swallow and get stuck.

Cannot rely on ANY information supplied by the surgery - unqualified staff provide blood test results with no understanding of what they mean.

This resulted in me needing to leave work early to 'see the GP as soon as possible', sit in the waiting room for 1.5 hours in blistering heat (fans go off and windows closed when reception staff leave), only to find the appointment was a waste of time, as bloods were all within normal range..

Raised complaint and highlight patient safety concerns to Practice Manager - no response after 7 weeks, reminder sent and acknowledgement of the complaint promising a response in 2 weeks.

This never arrived, and no responses to further communication.

Local surgeries have experienced a huge influx of patients from Morrab recently, which makes me wonder why on earth the practice has such a high rating.

Dear Mrs D, in response to your very poor experience described above, I believe we have responded to you directly with regard to the catalogue of problems you refer to.

We did agree there were many errors in which we failed to provide you with an appropriate service, and we have tried to address these subsequently.

Kind regards, Manager
