There are very clear and polite signs that there is a designated smoking area. However, there are many visitors and patients waiting for transport or just sitting in the sun who are smoking in non-designated areas. This means smoke blown into non-smokers faces + multitude of cigarette ends (and packets) around benches, on grass, etc. Not sure what the answer is, but needs to be stopped. Some companies ban smoking entirely from their premises - including car parks etc. Should not the NHS?

This is a problem that we are well aware of and as you state we have put up clear signs indicating no smoking areas and pointing people in the direction of the smoking shelters.

The Trust operates a no-smoking policy in all its buildings, entrances and large sections of its grounds adjacent to the buildings. This includes the Car Parks. The only places where people are allowed to smoke are the designated smoking shelters, of which there are two.

The problem that we have is enforcing these rules, which is something that we are looking into.
