"Waiting times"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital / Cardiology

Yesterday, 10th January, was the anniversary of my year long wait for treatment in the cardio department.

Your site states: Time from gp referall to treatment is 18 weeks for 9/10 patients. I really must be that 10th patient because I have been waiting 53 weeks, had tests but without treatment. I was put with a cardiologist for March but the hospital cancelled that before I got to see her.

I waited 128 days to see a consultant, your site states: 34 days.

After the initial wait of 5 months to see a consultant, it took 6 weeks to do the tests he ordered, I was happy with that but another 5 months to get his results, despite my doctors trying to get them and an admittance to A & E in August where there was nothing about the results on my notes 2 months after them being done. Thanks to the excellent staff in A & E they knew what was wrong with me, something I wasn't told by cardiology until some 3 months later. At the cardiology appointment in November I saw a lovely nurse at the arrythmia clinic who informed me exactly the same as the A & E team did in August what was wrong with me. Another 24 hour ecg was ordered, on arriving home after meter fitted I noticed that the wrong name and hospital number were on the form. I informed the hospital and the lady was lovely and 'flagged' it up on the system. Obviously I wanted the results under my name and number.

I was told that dependant on results of ecg another, different test may be ordered, no idea if this is being done. I am out of breath and dizzy and feel faint a lot of the time but after constantly feeling realling ill, very out of breath, dizzy, light headed and my heart rate dropping again to the 40's (I have bradycardia and postural hypotention and I have proof of heart rate drop, heart rate has also been up to 150, blood pressure is up and down, again I can prove and show irregular heart beat).

I phoned on 2nd January, I received a reply on 3rd January and was told that the arrythmia nurse I saw would be informed on the 8th January when she returned to work. I do not know what is happening now but on the 8th January I received a letter (dated 5th Jan) giving me an appointment at consultants clinic on 16th JULY 2018, another 7 months before I find out anything. I find this totally unacceptable. I am being ignored and in the meantime feeling more ill and incapable of doing daily tasks due to being out of breath, dizzy, lightheaded, feeling faint and unsteady most days. My quality of life has certainly been affected in the past year whilst waiting for treatment.

Why is it taking so long to get my treatment sorted?

I did complain to yourselves way back last year and a lady at PALS tried to help me but got no further than I did, despite writing to managers.

I do have all e mails and appointments documented and

saved.
