"Unexpected induction"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital / Maternity

I was admitted to the antenatal ward after attending a growth scan and finding out baby was losing amniotic fluid, just maintaining on her growth progress and then to find my bp had gone up while getting assessed it was a shock to be told i was to be admitted and induced, the dr was so compassionate as I was alone, shocked and upset at this news but she explained everything and then again when my partner arrived what a credit to her profession!! I was then transferred to the ward and had the same midwife that day and the day after she was amazing and very down to earth reassuring me and just a genuine nice lass with welcomed conversation when she came in to do obs or procedures which went a long way when you stuck in the room alone outside of visiting I really thank her and appreciate this as I could see how busy they were!! I stayed over 2 nights on the ward and could not fault anyone involved in my care consultant, drs, midwives, hca, domestics were all lovely and kept me updated on my care. Finially I was taken to delivery suite on the 3rd day after 3 pessarys, waters broke and induced I had 3 Midwife’s throughout my labour of 5 and half hours which were all amazing with myself and my birthing partners and stayed with us throughout, they explained everything to my birthing partners and gave me constant reassurance and encouragement. The drs after the birth were quick in coming to assess and suture me and very friendly. When my daughter was born we stayed overnight in the delivery suite the Midwife’s were on hand for queries any questions I had as a new mam there was a few!! In the morning all checks from MDT were done quickly and we were both discharged promptly before midday with all relevant documentation and follow ups given and explained. It was a relief to leave (due to my suprise admission) but I cannot thank everyone involved in my stay enough you are all amazing and have gave me a very special time a positive experience after being a patient when I am used to being the nurse I felt very vulnerable Within myself, I Could not thank all of you enough for my care and the safe arrival of my precious daughter the team is a credit to the hospital.
