I have been a patient of The Grange medical centre for over 25 years and for 20 of those years have been incredibly happy with the service I and my family have received.
However, in the last 5 years this surgery has declined rapidly.
An introduction in 2016 of the walk-in service has made getting an actual appointment with a GP you are comfortable with almost impossible. The telephone consultations were stopped, same day appointments are on the verge of extinction.
Now we are told "Ring at 8am for an appointment in two days time......." how ludicrous is this!
I've tried it!!!!
You ring at 8am for a receptionist to answer 20minutes later to tell you "all the appointments have gone but there's a walk in at Colton or the Grange "
If I'd wanted the walk-in service I'd have already been there!
I find the whole manner in which this surgery is run, is one of chaos and confusion.
Whoever is responsible for this dysfunctional state ought to reconsider implementing a less convoluted way to access the GP.
I unfortunately had the pleasure of speaking to the surly, condescending reception staff this morning who told me that "they have walk in services due to the volume of the patients to be seen and that seeing the same GP was a luxury"
Seeing any GP via an appointment seems a luxury!
I have a long standing health problem that requires continuity of care. I do not receive this care any longer.
I am at the stage where I am considering a change of GP practice.
I also want to pass on my concerns to the local Health Authority.
"Disorganised, disappointing, disfunctional"
