"Traumatising"

About: West Middlesex University Hospital

What I liked

Absolutely nothing.

What could be improved

Staff attitude, knowledge, the information you give out to patients, pretty much everything.

Anything else?

I came here in the middle of the night in pain, unable to pass urine for 24 hours, after being passed around from nurse to nurse to doctor to a different nurse again. And after explaining my problem to 5 different people (seriously, can the staff not log things down and read the patient file?) I finally had a catheder put in, after blood test/urine test coming up with no information as to what has caused the problem. The staff then sent me home after 5 hours of waiting with no information as to what has caused the problem, how long i should have the catheder in, what do i do next, only information i was given is that an urologist will contact me for an appointment. I expected that to be soon, only to later find out that it may be 2-3 weeks?!

Well, the next day, stressed out as a young man with a tube inside me and a pee pag i am trying to call the hospital to find out when can i see the urologist only to be hung up on, passed around to different departments, getting through to urology after 10 phone calls only to find out that A&E had not even sent my information over yet, no information again on how long i would have to have the catheder in. I said i would like to have it out -answer from staff was No that is not possible just wait. So I have had to get in touch with a private urologist and part with hundreds of pounds to get the care I need, How can i live with the fact that no one gives me any help, any information, any news of what is wrong. I cannot go to work with a cathered in me. It is painful and uncomfortable, it hurts. I told the staff this but no one cared! The private doctor has taken it out and an appointent was given in one hour and further investigation to the problem was done the same day.

Is this how NHS works? Also there was a crazy lady in the hospital who was screaming she wanted to cut her head off, and to 'get these voices out of my head' 'kill me' etc-. Again no attention to her from staff. I cannot believe what i have seen here.AppointmentsCommunicationOpening hoursBlood testDoctorsAttentivePatient carePrivacyTelephoneUrologyAttitude
