What I liked
My mother entered the Cardio Thoracic for open heart surgery at 76 years of age at the John Radcliffe. She was overweight and not in good health and the Surgeon was absolutely honest with her and gave her a stern warning about being overweight. He talked through the procedure and advised to loose as much weight as possible whilst on the waiting list. She entered in November and The staff were amazing from the instant she entered the room for her induction ready for the operation. Mum was in CCU for six days and they allowed us to stay all day and evening and calling at 10pm and 6am for an update each day they held the phone to her ear (as she had tubes still in and could not talk) for her to hear our voices. Every single member of staff was excellent from suregeons, nurses, catering and cleaning staff and we should know as we lived at the hospital for nine days. The after care she has received has also been excellent and I would recommend this hospital to everyone. I live in the West Midlands and my mother in law has also been in our local hospital and the care she has received has been a million miles away from the John Radcliffe. I believe other hospitals could learn a lot by visiting this hospital to see how they treat patients with such fantastic care. Congratulations to all you caring people and keep up the good work!!!!!
