"Cancer patient F4 ward traumatized and..."

About: Southampton General Hospital

I am a private patient paying for installment of my surgery and treatment. Since I am from other country. I am a bit shock and traumatized the way the system in Nhs hospitals. Coming from icu. After 15hours of operation staying 3days icu. They move me to some private room. And I thought I will be staying there until I recover. And to my surprise at 4:am I just feel that me bed is moving I woke up and told me they gonna move me to another room. I was so scared when it moves I start getting panic. And so they left me there. In the morning They give me medicine to take without eating food. And they left it’s just my 2nd day coming out from icu. And this time I’m still not able to help myself move properly I have no help. I try to buzz for help but nobody came. I spill my water all over my bed. And I had a wet bed the whole day. I was crying coz I really wanted the bed to change and everytime I ring the buzz for help nobody will come and when they come they keep telling me to wait. So I was in my bed wet the whole day. In my country if you admitted in hospital they allow one of member of the family to stay so they can help for anything we need . The nurse will only be called for an emergency. I tried to ask the doctors and the nurses to let my sisters in and stay at night. But they refused. And yet they won’t attend the patient for some help at night I couldn’t sleep. I wonder how do patient in ward get better if that kind of treatment they will face every day every night staying in there. I wasn’t supposed to be realease early but bcoz of that reason I had to sign the document to release me and just recover back home. Bcoz I couldn’t find myself getting better staying in the hospital. Stafff wasn’t helpful and ignoring my complaints ignoring my asking for help. What is the point of the red buzz if the nurses will not come or when they come they will tell you that they are busy and they have much important things to attend to rather than taking my drifts away. The doctor order to take out my drifts coz it’s finish I have told nurses many times the whole night nobody cares. At 9:am the next day. They change shift . Someone came to take it out. I suffer the whole night asking to get rid of it. Never asleep. I hope one day they consider one family member to be stay at night in each patient so they can look after them and leave the nurses of their job. It would be easy for patient to recover knowing that they have someone to hold hands and can help for simple task.

And not keep asking nurses. Some old patient I have in that ward was an old lady that she has to fall down many times in her bed bcoz she wanted to go for a pee and her balance wasn’t good enough. No matter how much she pull the buzzer nobody came..
