"Pilgrim hospital maternity and labour ward"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

It is now a few weeks since I gave birth to my baby boy and after a difficult birth I only just feel well enough to put pen to paper.

I would like to start by thanking my midwife and her 2nd year student for the care and dignity you gave me and my partner (same sex relationship) whilst in labour ward. The student showed great skills and knowledge and will be a great asset when qualified.

Secondly I would like to thank labour ward's theatre team for their fantastic care even when I was contracting and wasn't at my best, they kept talking me through what was going to happen. I ended up with a baby coming out oblique so required forceps delivery and spinal and had a big blood loss.

Thank you to Mr Khan  (General anaethatist) for being so friendly in a scary situation and getting me pain free! ! Thanks to Dr paul and Sant for delivering my baby safely.

And lastly thanks to m1 for the amazing aftercare. Nothing was too much trouble. Pain relief came within minutes of asking and any questions or queries were quickly answered.

Thanks to midwife Wendy for a very smiley face. You all really are worth your weight in gold.

I would like to say thank you for taking time in the busy early days of parenthood to give such lovely feedback about our whole maternity team at Pilgrim.

Your feelings demonstrate the effort that every member of staff makes to ensure individualised care, centred around your needs, is provided and it reiterates excellent multidisciplinary working with effective communication.

I am really pleased that, even though your labour wasn’t straight forward, you still felt well cared for and that all staff took time to listen.

I think we have an excellent unit at Pilgrim and your feedback confirms this.

Thank you again on behalf of all of the team and hopefully we may see you again as a patient in a couple of years.

Update posted by Mum to boys (the patient)

Well i didnt think i would be seeing you again so quickly... i was readmitted with a retained placenta a few days ago. I was swiftly taken to theatre and received fantastic care again from M1. Thank you again to the team. But no offence, im hoping i dont see you as a patient again quite so soon!
