"Upset not all the dental work was carried out"

About: Leicester City PCT

(as the patient),

I attended an appointment at my NHS Dentist, at the beginning of feb 2011.

Established treatment required, told to make appointment at Reception, paid for treatment.

A week later I attended appointment, under the impression all work would be carried out. This included, one extraction, plate fitting, filling on FRONT tooth and small filling on canine tooth.

Absolutely no problem with treatment, but the Dentist only carried out the extraction and fitted the plate. (I'd taken this to be adjusted on the 1st visit and made clear my wish for my front tooth to be repaired, due to the effect this has on my cosmetic appearance and my wish to, under no circumstances, be left without this plate).

I was told by the Dentist to go to Reception to make a further appointment, when my two fillings would be completed.

As you can imagine, I was upset, all the work wasn't to be carried out, but thought, as you do, "well the Dentist knows best".

I was surprised though, if this had been the Plan, why hadn't I been told to make two Appointments, after my first visit?

I had been made aware the Dentist was to be on holiday, for 2 weeks, so asked at Reception, for an appointment, as near to their return date.

Can anyone guess the Date of the appointment which I was given?

....... It was 3rd May!

I gave up the expected response and reasoning, as to why I needed an earlier date, but this fell onto deaf ears.

I cried !!

The Receptionist then told me I could call the Practice, 8th March, to see if they had a cancellation! (How Kind).

I have contacted "The Help Line", who advised me to call the Practice and ask them to try to get me an earlier appointment, (which I did, yesterday).

They have offered me a new appointment for the middle of march now.
