"Poor follow up treatment - Rude Staff"

My 14 year old son has extreme back pain.

He was sent for an xray and the results showed that he should be referred for an MRI scan.

This I have to say came through very quickly.

I telephoned the surgery one week later just in case the results had come back quickly, the hospital told us they probably would do as he is so young.

I was told by a very rude person on the results line that the MRI scan was clear but he needed to speak to a doctor.

I was confused by this as it seemed to conflict with the Xray information.

I expressed my concerns and asked to speak to a doctor to explain it to me.

I was told I had to wait another 10 days to even have a telephone consultation as it was nothing to worry about!!

Try telling that to a mother and not have her get cross!!

I said I had been worried sick for 5 weeks since the xray results and as my son was still in severe pain, their idea of worry and mine were totally different.

They offered me a telephone consultation in 7 days instead in their annoying sing song I really don't care voice.

Who do these receptionists think they are, as far as I am concerned as soon as the results of the scan came back I should have had a call from the doctor who arranged it to explain the results and to discuss what happens next!

Nobody in our NHS seems to care any more.
