"a great place to have your baby and very..."

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital

What I liked

When I phoned I spoke to the midiwfe in triage. she was great and friendly and helped me to make the right decision for me- it was becasue of her that I stayed at home and didn;t have to make lost of journeys into hospital. I was pleased about that- i think other people go in too soon and then blame the midwifes that they have to go back home when really they should take responsibility for their own decisions.

When I did go in a few hours later, I saw the midwife I had spoken to on the phone so I didnt have to start explaining all over- we just carried on from before. They were all very busy but still took time to make sure that I was ok and my partner- I think some people expect too much and they have to realise that there are lots of patients and only a set number of staff but when I needed attention, I got it.

The labour was long and not easy but I felt safe . I even used the water pool which was great. everywhere was really clean and the staff were all helpful, happy and reassuring. I was helped with my baby when he eventually came out and the midwifes made sure I was clean, comfortable and had help when I asked for it. Some of the mums on the ward just seemed to expect the midwifes to know what they needed and moaned when they had to ask or even wait for a minute or 2 for the bell to be answered - they didnt want to help themselves- whenever I asked, I was helped and even when I didn;t ask. I was in for a few days after as my baby needed tests and lots of the mums were happy with the care.

What could be improved

I had to wait for lots of paperwork when I was discharged which took some time.

my community midiwfe wasnt as friendly as the hospital midwifes

Anything else?

i would definately recommend this hospital to other mums to be and hope that some of the other mums i met who thought it was great take time to fill this inTriageAttentiveOpening hoursTelephoneMidwifeBureaucracyCleanlinessPatient careReassuringReception
