What I liked
I had requested a tertiary referral for my 76 year old mother from my local hospital due to the good reports I had read about this hospital. From my first telephone call to the specialist cancer nurse, through to the consultation with the surgeon, the pre-op assessment and the anaesthetist and ultimately the surgery, I can only praise the standard of care and attention that she received. Also, the care from the PACU nurse was exceptional. Once on the ward T9, overall the nurses were attentive, efficient and caring, with particular thanks going to members of staff.
What could be improved
Mum was transferred from PACU to T9 on a Saturday morning. This meant that no physio's were available to walk her and the staff seemed unsure about what they could do in this respect and with her dietry needs. This unfortunately made her lose a little confidence. However, when the surgeon returned on Monday he done a good job of getting things moving again and lifting mum's spirits. They really are an exceptional surgeon and person.ReferralsCancer and tumoursSurgeryAttentivePatient careProfessionalismTelephoneCancerAnaesthetistsConsultantsNursing staffPhysiotherapistsSurgeons
