The worse experience ever. Absolutely flabbergasted by the attitude and professionalism of the staff of Thomas audley ward. I agree that yes our nhs workers are over worked and underpaid however, this is no excuse to lower the standard of care given to patients. It all started when my mother requested for some pain killers for her painful broken ankle as she had had an operation just yesterday on the third attempt of asking for some pain killer I received a response “ I’m very busy I am looking after six other people you have to wait” even thought my mum already wait 3 hours. I tried to empathise with the nurse and my response “ I comepletely understand you are doing your best but when you have five minutes please can you bring her some painkillers” the nurse then proceeded to question my mother “ who did you ask!? Your daughter is standing here telling me your waiting all morning for painkillers” more questions followed so I assertively said “ instead of questioning my mum can you please go let her some painkiller?” They then shouted “respect me!” Beside my mother was a very rude patient who then took it upon her self to stir the pot. The nurse then started to speak to all the other admitted patients on the ward about the situation and all shouting out indecent comment around the ward. I then heard a group of nurses discussing and laughing about the situation. I was asked to leave twice. I then proceeded to the reception of the ward and asked for the complaints procedure and the name of the nurse and their nurse gmc number I was refused. I made my way down to the PALS service and explained the situation to a very helpful member of staff which completed empathised with me and assured me they would investigate. God help anyone that breaks a bone in their body and ends up on the Thomas audley ward in HUH !
