"What a complete mess"

About: Russells Hall Hospital

What I liked

My dad went into hospital for a stomach bypass as his bile duct was repeatedly blocked and had chronic pancreatitis. The surgery he had was supose to last around 2hrs as previously expalined and ended up being in theatre for 10 hours in total. He was in HDU which looked after him perfectly but as soon as he went onto B4 his wound became infected. He is still in there now and six days later infection is still there, tests have had to be repeated and i have been informed on how or what the cause is. The nurse in charge had no clue what she was talking about sayin he has no infection by that the surgeon told us he did previously. This is absolutely appalling especially how this particular hospital as had bad press about infection rates. All we were told was he had two infections but no one told us which ones he as got....Well....all i can say is what a hospital!!

What could be improved

Nurses available to any any concerns you have about a loved one for a start. Nurses who know about the patient they are in charge of on their duty. Quick response times to tests instead of waiting two days for a CT Scan to come back
