What I liked
I've visited the Eye Clinic quite a number of times, pre and post-surgery, over the last year or so. Nursing and consultant staff have consistently been friendly, highly professional and I have had total confidence in them. I have to travel about 200 miles to get there but I have never had any doubts that I made the right decision to ask for a referral here rather than locally. Harley Street standards of medical care on the NHS.
I was surprised at first that consultations are carried out in an open plan office with several patients seeing different doctors at the same time. Maybe a privacy issue. But it does mean that the doctors consult and cross refer to one another all the time so I think it works really well in the patient's interests overall.
What could be improved
Appointments system is pretty much useless as I have never been seen shorter than an hour after my appointed time. Often quite a bit longer. There is a pretty feeble eye test that I am convinced is a psychological trick to make you think something is happening. Uncomfortable plastic covered chairs not a good idea. Waiting times in the pharmacy are dreadful. Take a book, some sandwiches, and treat it as a day out.AppointmentsReferralsSurgeryPatient carePrivacyOpthalmologyConsultantsDoctorsNursing staffWaiting timesPharmacy
"Fantastic treatment but take a book, it..."
