About: Macclesfield District General Hospital

What I liked

My mother, Marjorie, age 94, was admitted to the MAU and then subsequently to Ward 4. At all times we were both treated with compassion and kindness for which I would like to thank all the staff involved in the care of my mother during the 6 days before she died of broncho pneumonia.

What could be improved

She was admitted at about 10.00.am but treatment, in the form of antibiotics and a saline drip did not commence until about 4.00.pm, as I recall. On the second evening in MAU a drunken, violent woman was admitted, which greatly distressed my mother who was already very frightened. The staff did their best to control this person but to my mind it is a pity that such cases cannot be treated in a separate area.AntibioticsPneumoniaAggressivePatient care

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on this website. Your kind compliments will be passed on to the ward staff. We are sorry that there was a delay in administering the drip.

We are also sorry that your mother was distressed by one of the other patients. There can be no doubt that some patients are more challenging that others, but are pleased that you felt that nursing staff coped with the situation.
