"Rampton Carer Event and Forensic Carers"

About: Rampton Hospital

(as a carer),

I’ve been before to the Rampton Carer events. At the last one I had a hospital tour. It was good as you could see where patients were and what they did and what things they were trying to achieve with my son.

The gardens are nice and they have an area where they look after animals and they produce food they have grown themselves.

I think there should be more help for forensic carers support groups to know that we are not the only ones going through  it.  I believe my son would not be here if he had received help earlier from mental health services. I don’t know what will happen when he leaves Rampton.

We are suffering as a family .

It is good to hear that you enjoyed the Carers Tour and seeing the horticulture area where patients are involved in looking after plants and animals.

The Carers events are run quarterly by the hospital to provide formal and regular suport for family and friends of our patients. In addition there is a Carers Support Group run by carers. The Family Support Team can provide you with information about this.

Each patient has an individual care and treatment pathway to plan their journey back to the community which is discussed at their Care Programme Review meetings details of which can be provided by your son's Social Worker.
