Dear Sarah

Thank you for sharing your feedback on NHS Choices.

I was very disappointed to hear about your experience.

I have shared your comments with the Modern Matron for Children’s Services.

Our Children’s Emergency Department was extremely busy on the weekend you visited due to very large numbers of attendances, and she would like to apologise for the long wait which you experienced, and also hat you faced a delay in receiving Calpol for your child.

You also mentioned the signage displaying the wrong waiting times.

We understand that there were some issues with the computer signage in the department over the weekend.

However, this issue has now been resolved, and we have asked the reception staff to ensure these are accurate and also that the nurse in charge keeps parents and children updated regularly.

Unfortunately we do have issues with toys going missing from our waiting areas, but we are looking at the toys which are available so that we can improve the experience for our young patients.

We would also like to assure you that there is a water dispenser in the area, and that staff can also provide juice on request.

We would like to look into the issues you experienced in more detail, so that we can ensure that we improve the care we provide to families.

Please could you contact our Lead Nurse for Children’s Services, Sue Ellis, on sue.ellis@uhcw.nhs.uk or our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) team on feedback@uhcw.nhs.uk so we can investigate further?

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, we appreciate all comments both positive and negative, as it helps us to better understand our patients’ needs and to continually improve.
