"Lack of antenatal care "

I found out i was pregnant just before Christmas, my GP referred me to Darrent for an urgent scan as i have diabetes and PCOS. I phoned after new year and they said they knew nothing about me.

I then contacted my GP who sent another Fax, still they said they hadn't received it. I took the fax number of Antenatal and ultrasound and asked my GP to send another fax. Still no record of me, no one offered help even when i explained i am diabetic and around 12 weeks pregnant!

I had a bleed the following Tuesday and ended up in A&E i sat there thinking i had lost my baby for 3 3/4 hours. The Dr called me in and said the pregnancy test is positive, i had to ask for the blood test results, as far as I'm aware he hadn't even looked for them. He told me to go home and wait or a call from the EPU

At 10 am i got a call to say come in at 12.00. We went in had a scan i was 12+2 we saw baby's heart beat and his arms and legs, he was perfect.

The consultant walked us round to antenatal and i thought things were finally going to get sorted. They told us they would send an appointment.

When i hadn't heard anything by the end of the week i phoned and once again they knew nothing about me. EPU said they couldn't help as i had been discharged. Once again i was left chasing the hospital, i was so stressed.

Finally i phoned my GP and insisted someone chased it up on my behalf, the nurse tried all day and got nowhere, she finally got me an appointment with the diabetic nurse on the Tuesday. She was fantastic and she arranged for a midwife to come in and see me who had arranged a scan for the next day.

For us it was too late, i should have been 14 1/2 weeks but my baby had died shortly after the first scan at 12 1/2 to 13 weeks. I am so angry at the way I was treated.
