"Fab labour ward poor quality c23"

About: Warrington Hospital / Maternity

Firstly I must say that I am gutted to not be leaving a full positive review however c23 completely ruined my experience.

I have a very strong history of post natal depression and was having regular consultant appointments throughout my pregnancy during these appointments it was made clear how important the aftercare was for me due to my history. I could never complain about my care with community midwife or consult they were both absolutely fantastic and completely understood my history and my plan. I went into labour ward as my waters were leaking and again I had an amazing midwife who arranged for me to be transferred over to induction suite however on walking over to induction it became apparent that my labour had suddenly came on they took me straight back to my room on labour ward and deliver d my beautiful little girl 16 minutes later, my little girl came out with part of her shoulder first and the midwife was amazing in guiding her out without any assistance. I was then transferred to C23 around 3am and everything went wrong here I was breastfeeding but I was really struggling to get my daughter to latch and due to this not being my first child and actually being my 6th I was told your a fab hand you don't need our help, well I did and from my notes with previous post natal you would of seen that I struggle with asking for support therefore me asking for help was a big thing for me and I was brushed aside then at around 8am straight after shift changeover I have another midwife introduce themselves as taking over my care and that they will be arranging my immediate discharge as after 6 children I don't need support. I also told them I was struggling to get my daughter to latch to the breast and was not confident with feeding her, my previous son was tongue tied which wasn't picked up so we had a failed breastfeeding there which made me feel a failure and I did not breastfeed my other children. By 10am I was given my discharge papers and told I could leave knowing that I couldn't feed my daughter due to being unable to get her to latch on the breast all I needed was someone to offer me a little bit of their time to help me with positioning and it could have been successful but no one was willing to give me that on the basis of me having 6 children. Throughout your pregnancy you are told all pregnancies labours and children are different and they are so why could I not be treated the same as the other ladies on my ward and be given assistance and this yet again has impacted on my mental health as discussed with consultant before birth if I didn't feel supported it would impact. All this information was documented and C23 staff need to read previous history as there lack of care completely ruins the whole maternity service within warrington
