I have been with this practice for over 9 years and luckily I have rarely needed a GP. In January, this year, my hand was injured when I fell on some metal stairs and got cut quite badly. After 4 days, my hand became swollen and looked infected. I phone up the doctors and surprise, surprise... I just could not get through. I kept on trying for the next 53 minutes and gave up. On one occasion, I did get through but was disconnected... Grrr, I thought so I walked into the practice. It was like a circus and the reception was overwhelmed with patients. I waited another 27 minutes in the queue and was greeted by a member of staff who thought that I should just go home and take a hot bath. As I knew this was an infection, I requested to see a doctor but there were no appointments until another 9 days. Eventually, I ended up at A and E the next day where they gave me antibiotics.
The lesson for me is to find a new GP ASAP.
