The consultant has performed x2 surgery on my neck and lower back this surgeon is a real asset to queens hospital although my surgery was at care uk centre- I would of preferred a room of my own having spent time on a ward and previously a room I was glad to leave care uk the staff that cared for me were great but sadly the kitchen staff are very bad manners and no respect for patient choice or privacy I say no more, going home the next day was fantastic being in my own environment helped.
It’s been 5 weeks since my back op I am not going to lie it was painful more so than my neck it took 2weeks before I got out of bed and started moving around a little. The nerve took 3 weeks to calm and heal I have restrictions in movement but my mind and body are adapting one thing that has helped is the home exercises and strengthen ( do follow physical therapist advice this will help.
pain took 4 weeks to totally go I am moving walking and have traveled on bus a few times locally, I have started driving again. And feel I am getting back to normal walking wise I am slow moving and have to build this up my neck has been hurting last few days weather is cold and when I go out the cold is aggravating my neck. Thing to avoid is sudden moving and twisting around don’t think it’s ok to lift because it’s not, listen to the medical staff and folllow drs advice I am very thankful after years and years of suffering and being ignored by gps finally somebody knew and understood the pain and frustration of not being able to walk
The consultant knows their stuff and I put all my faith in them, they are very good and explains everything.
