Today I attended the NOC for a diagnostic cervical nerve block for which my Consultant Neurosurgeon at the John Radcliffe Hospital had referred me for exactly a week prior to this appt. At the time of my referral to the NOC I explained that I was more than happy to be contacted at short notice if an appt became available and the NOC radiology dept rang me yesterday to see if today was convenient which it obviously was.
My GP had referred to me to the
JR as achieving adequate pain relief for pain in my neck, shoulder and arm was problematic due to other health problems and previous cervical surgery. My local hospitals were unable to offer an appt until the end of Jan 18 so I was more than happy to travel.
I have to report that my experiences at both hospitals has been exceptional. Everyone that I have had contact with, which has included several different health professionals, have been very empathic and caring and also very knowledgeable and skilled in their chosen areas of expertise. They all took time to listen to me and explained things clearly to me, answering any questions I had and offering reassurance when required. At no time did I feel rushed and I must say that I was extremely impressed with timekeeping, I arrived 30 mins early for both appts as I always do for hospital appts and on both occasions I was see before my actual appt times, something of a new experience for me.
I cannot recommend both hospital highly enough.
